The 2010 census puts the number of the Ulchi at 2.765 persons, of them 2.621 (95 %) live in the Khabarovsk territory. The Ulchi are a minority in every village where they live, with a single exception. There is a gender imbalance among the Ulchi: their men to women ratio is 1:1.7. Age-wise, the Ulchi group is dominated by persons of employable age, and the share of children and teenagers (21.8 %) is higher than the share of the elderly (14.9 %), although some villages had no children under five, which evidences a falling birth rate.
